he Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) has nominated two of its members for the post of Jakarta deputy governor, namely Ahmad Syaikhu and Agung Yulianto.
PKS executive board spokesman Dedi Supriyadi said the party had chosen Syaikhu as one of the nominees for his experience as a deputy mayor in Bekasi, West Java.
“Pak Ahmad Syaikhu is experienced as a councillor on the [Bekasi] city council, [West Java] legislative council and he was also a deputy mayor,” Dedi said on Wednesday, kompas.com reported.
He said Syaikhu had also been groomed to become a deputy governor in the 2018 West Java gubernatorial election along with then-gubernatorial candidate Sudrajat, although the pair lost to Ridwan Kamil and Uu Razhanul Ulum.
The second nominee is Agung Yulianto, PKS Jakarta executive board secretary.
Dedi said Agung had been chosen as a he had a strong business background.
“His profile is quite close to that of the previous deputy governor, Pak Sandiaga Uno,” Dedi said.
Previously, PKS chairman Sohibul Iman said the party had informed Gerindra Party chairman Prabowo Subianto about the two nominees.
“We will formally tell [Prabowo], ‘Pak, in one or two days, please sign the documents for the formal nominations,” Sohibul said. (ami)
