"'If I'm not back on Nov. 11, 2018, you should still wear the wedding gown that I chose yesterday and wear pretty makeup. Ask for fresh white roses from Sheila [the wedding organizer] and take a nice photo. Send the photo to me.'"
igh school sweethearts Intan Indah Syarii and Rio Nanda Pratama were set to marry in Pangkalpinang, Bangka Belitung over the weekend. However, their plans were thwarted when Rio boarded Lion Air flight JT610 on Oct. 29 to return to Pangkalpinang after attending a seminar in Jakarta.
The airplane crashed into the Java Sea shortly after takeoff, and none of the 189 passengers on board survived.
Despite the tragic loss of her husband-to-be, Intan went through with a wedding photo shoot wearing her wedding gown to honor a request that had been intended as a joke by Rio just before he left for Jakarta. Wedding organizers Adiela Organizer posted photos from her wedding shoot on its Instagram account on Sunday with a caption telling Intan's story.
"Rio gave Intan one message," @adielaorganizer.bangka wrote. "'If I'm not back on Nov. 11, 2018, you should still wear the wedding gown that I chose yesterday and wear pretty makeup. Ask for fresh white roses from Sheila [the wedding organizer] and take a nice photo. Send the photo to me.'"
Intan also posted the photos on her own Instagram account on Monday, expressing her grief following Rio's death.
"Even though I feel grief that I cannot describe, I still have to smile for you, and cannot be sad but should be strong like you always told me to be," she wrote. "I love you Rio Nanda Pratama darling."
Intan had also previously posted pictures of her finished wedding invitations and called Rio her "first love."
"Now many know the story of me and the man that has filled my days for 13 years," she posted last week. "He is Rio Nanda Pratama, my first love." (ahw)
