The new travel fair concept was launched to accommodate the current trend of buying airplane tickets online. Garuda Indonesia commercial director A. Toni Soetirto said in a press release that the event was a positive collaboration between two state-owned enterprises (BUMN) to develop the country's tourism industry and provide different experiences for customers.

“Amid rapid development of digital technology in Indonesia, Garuda Indonesia as a national airline must also create innovations for our customers,” said Toni.

Prior to the online travel fair, the carrier held mini online travel fairs in March and August. The former event successfully generated sales of Rp 26 billion, while the latter reportedly achieved Rp 66 billion. As for the upcoming event, the company has set a target of Rp 150 billion. (kes)
