he Indonesian Embassy in Amman, Jordan, has inaugurated the opening of Taman Indonesia (Indonesian Park) in the city of Salt by planting 400 trees in the area to advance the greening of Jordan and promote Indonesia as a country of rich greenery and vegetation.

Originally, the initiative arose from Salt Mayor Khalid Khashman’s enthusiast wish for his city to have its own Indonesian park after witnessing the opening of Taman Indonesia in Amman and Philadelphia University, Jerash in January. He later reserved a 12-hectare plot of land located on the edge of a hill on the outskirts of Salt that faces a wide green area and the border of Palestine for such a park.

Continuing the park’s construction, the embassy built a gate, installed guide boards and allotted 400 trees to be planted.

The mayor also expressed his gratitude to the embassy for its efforts in helping with the greening of Salt with Taman Indonesia, also appraising it as an early step to establish a tighter bilateral cooperation between Indonesia and Jordan. (mra/kes)
