Sabang Marine Festival (SMF) III officially opened

Friday marked the official opening of the Sabang Marine Festival (SMF) III, held at the Sabang Fair Arena in Aceh.
“SMF 2017 is a sort of a warm-up in preparation for Sail Sabang 2017, which will be held on December 2 and attended by the President, ministry and embassy officials and yachters,” explained the Tourism Ministry’s marine tourism department acceleration team deputy head Asep Muhammad.

The number of yachts coming to participate at the event has increased from last year. This year, Sabang has welcomed 26 yachts, with 10 more still on their way, which compares to only 20 and 17 yachts in 2016 and 2015, respectively.
Yachts arriving in Sabang need to register with the CIQP (Customs, Immigration, Quarantine and Post-Clearance) team, but the entire registration process takes only an hour.
The Sabang Marine Festival aims to introduce the place’s marine potential and promote Sabang as a top destination for yachters. (asw)
