ans of extreme sports are encouraged to visit Mondangan Beach in Malang regency, East Java. This pristine 1.06-kilometer stretch of white, sandy shore is host to a paragliding runway located on top of a cliff and walking distance to the shore.
The spot also offers breath taking views from Waung hill, perched 210 meters above sea level.
“I call this place a paragliding paradise,” said paragliding instructor Ridwan Asnan, one of the initiators of the extreme sport in Mondangan Beach.

In addition to turning Mondangan Beach into tourist spot for paragliders, he also aims to make it a hotbed for discovering new, local talent.
“We’re also nurturing the young people who live here to learn the skills of paragliding; perhaps someday there’ll be a paragliding athlete from this place,” said paraglider Haris Effendy. (kes)
