ccording to recent data recorded by the Central Statistics Agency, 1.14 million foreign tourists visited Indonesia in April, a 7.09 percent increase from the previous month and 26.75 percent increase from the same period last year.
Up to 994,130 of those visits were reportedly recorded at the country's 19 main gates.
“The number is still dominated by tourists from China at 15.8 percent,” said BPS head Suhariyanto.

Taking the second spot after China was Singapore with 127,100 (12.71 percent) tourists, followed by Malaysia with 118,000 (11.8 percent), Australia with 95,700 (9.57 percent) and India with 39,000 (3.91 percent).
Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali welcomed the highest amount of foreign tourists in April with a total of 474,600 visits. Meanwhile, Soekarno-Hatta International Airport and Hang Nadim International Airport in Batam ranked second and third with 211,000 and 134,000 visits, respectively.
There was also a significant increase of 312 percent in foreign tourists arriving at Sam Ratulangi International Airport in North Sulawesi, compared to the same period last year. This can be attributed to direct flight services that are now available between the region and China.

Another significant increase was recorded at Lombok International Airport in West Nusa Tenggara (127 percent) due to increased flights from Malaysia and Brunei Darussalam.
Indonesia reportedly welcomed 4.2 million tourists between January and April, an increase by 19.34 percent from the same period last year.
This year the Tourism Ministry is targeting to welcome at least 15 million foreign tourists to the country. (kes)
