he porter service at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport's Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 is now available for free, according to a report by kompas.com.
Previously, passengers at the two terminals were required to pay a fee if they opted to use the service to carry their luggage.
“The [paid] porter service no longer exists; now it's available for free,” said the airport’s communications manager, Dewandono Prasetyo "Pras" Nugroho, adding that the move aimed to expand on services in order to compete with other international airports.

Pras said the porter service was operated under the human resources management of PT Angkasa Pura Solusi, a subsidiary of state-owned airport operator PT Angkasa Pura II.
“Although we focus on self-service like other world-class airports, we believe it’s still necessary to have trolley-collecting attendants and airport helpers at the moment,” Pras added.
Implemented since last week, the free service also aims to eliminate unofficial transactions at the airport.
Airport porters exist at Terminal 3, where the attendants are required to collect trolleys and help carry passengers' luggage. (wir/kes)
