Tourism Ministry, KBRI promote five Indonesian destinations in Thailand

he Tourism Ministry and the Indonesian Embassy (KBRI) in Bangkok recently held a press conference on Wonderful Indonesia Festival at Westin Hotel, Bangkok on Nov. 15.
The event aimed to promote five destinations in Indonesia that are considered suitable for Thailand.
“There are Medan, Jakarta – Banten, Bandung, Yogyakara – Solo – Semarang, Surabaya – Malang and Bali – Lombok,” said the ministry's Southeast Asia tourism promotion assistant deputy, Rizki Handayani.
Thailand is a huge market for tourism. In 2016 Bangkok was the most-visited city in the world. In a year, Thailand can welcome up to 2.4 million tourists.
“Tourism is the second biggest foreign exchange [contributor] in Thailand with Bangkok as the main destination. Tourists from all over the world travel to Bangkok and then move to other destinations. We need KBRI to be the 'eyes and ears' of Indonesia in Thailand,” Rizki added.
Meanwhile, tourism in Indonesia is growing as well, reaching 25.68 percent, way above the ASEAN growth rate at seven percent and worldwide growth at six percent.
In terms of access, Garuda Indonesia has 21 flights that serve Bangkok – Jakarta route in a week, which is equal to 176,904 seats per year.
AirAsia Indonesia offers 14 flights per week (131,040 seats per year) for Don Mueang – Jakarta route, four flights per week (37,440 seats per year) for Don Mueang – Bali route and seven flights per week (65,520 seats per year) for Don Mueang – Medan route.
Thai Airways has 10 flights per week (160.680 seats per year) for Bangkok – Jakarta route and seven flights per week (112.476 seats per year) for Bangkok Bali route.
Thai AirAsia has seven flights per week (65.520 seats per year) for Don Mueang –Bali route, whilst Thai Lion Air has seven flights per week (78.260 seats per year) for Don Mueang – Jakarta route and seven flights per week (906,100 seats per year) for Don Mueang – Bali route. (kes)
