SITA (the Association of Indonesian Tour and Travel Agencies) of Bali has prepared packages in tourist villages for International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank delegations in their 2018 annual meeting.

“Our members are offering something new and different, including adventure tourism,” said Ketut Ardana, head of ASITA, in Kuta on Thursday.

Antara reported that the tourist villages included Penglipuran in Bangli subdistrict, Pinge in Tabanan regency and Bongkasa in Badung regency.

Ardana said tour and travel agents in Bali have communicated with the tourist villages' organizers. In Bali, there are more than 100 villages spread in nine regencies.

Aside from tourist villages, other destinations in tour packages include the popular Tanah Lot, Uluwatu and Ubud.

With 15,000 delegations from 189 countries expected to come for the meeting, the opportunity is viewed as momentum to increase the agents’ income.

Ardana predicted that there will be a 20 percent increase from normal transactions, in terms of activity and profit.

Tourism Minister Arief Yahya has stated that Indonesia offers 60 tourist packages for the delegates. They include seven tourist destinations, namely Bali, Lombok, Banyuwangi, Labuan Bajo, Yogyakarta, Toraja and Lake Toba.

Out of 60 packages, 33 of them are routinely offered to visitors in Bali.

Arief stated that the government has confirmed the other destinations were well prepared to welcome the delegations. (wng)
