North Sumatra Deputy Governor Nurhajizah Marpaung, who was at the welcoming event, told The Jakarta Post that the SuperStar Libra's arrival opens opportunities for other cruise ships to dock at the port, as well as increase the number of foreign tourists visiting North Sumatra, especially Lake Toba.
State-owned port operator PT Pelindo I president director Bambang Eka Cahyana said the port was projected to help increase international interactions in West Indonesia.
"We have made the necessary preparations to welcome cruise ships at this port. Hopefully there will be more to come," said Bambang. (kes)
