ith the popularity of outdoor activities and traveling on the rise, the range of accessories available is also getting wider.

Companies that produce gear for outdoor activities are constantly coming up with new products, while already popular products are regularly improved.

Arief Siagian, product line manager of outdoor equipment company Eiger, said that the brand recently introduced three types of backpack and rucksack.

“Each has a distinct purpose, as the compartments in each carrier are different,” Arief said on Thursday.

Tempo.co has compiled a list of the most popular outdoor gear right now.

1. Hammocks

In the last two years, hammocks have become one of the most popular must-bring items for travelers visiting beaches or mountains.

According to history.com, many anthropologists believe the hammock dates back some 1,000 years to Central America, where the Maya and other indigenous peoples crafted them out of tree bark or plant fibers.

Hammocks are often recommended as they are extremely durable, lightweight and compact, making them excellent travel companions.

2. Buffs

Replacing slayers for head-covering or mask purposes, buffs are a multi-functional headwear that can be used to cover your head, neck, nose and mouth.

Buffs are also considered easier to wear than slayers, which you have to tie manually. They began to gain popularity in 2010.

3. Water bladders

A hydration pack containing a reservoir or bladder made of rubber, water bladders provide easy hydration for outdoor enthusiasts.

With a relatively long hose, travelers can drink directly from the bladder without the hassle of opening and closing backpacks. They can be hung or slipped on the outside of backpacks.

4. Trekking poles

Previously used only for skiing or ice climbing, trekking poles are now used for regular hiking. Other than giving more stability, the pointy tip helps hikers support their weight during hikes.

These poles are often equipped with rubber paws or carbide tips for gripping natural trails.

5. Climbing bags

Aside from the many variables of rucksacks, climbing bags are also suitable for extreme hiking. An example from Eiger is the 50-liter bag, with a roll top fastener made from webbing rope.

Underneath the bag, there are hooks on which you can hang your climbing tools. On the back, the bag has an airflow system that provides air circulation to prevent a feeling of dampness caused by rain or perspiration. (wng)
