ow-cost carrier AirAsia has been named Asia's Leading Low-Cost Airline at the 2018 World Travel Awards Asia and Australia, marking its sixth consecutive year nabbing the title.
According to a statement, the airline at the event was voted best in the category by travel and tourism professionals worldwide for its commitment to excellence in service, putting it ahead of similar airlines, such as JetStar Airways, Scoot and Firefly.
AirAsia also won the award for Asia's Leading Low-Cost Airline Cabin Crew, surpassing other airlines such as Air India Express, GoAir and SpiceJet.
AirAsia Hong Kong and Macao CEO Celia Lao accepted the awards on behalf of AirAsia at the ceremony held in Hong Kong on Monday.

AirAsia Group CEO Tony Fernandes in a statement expressed his enthusiasm at the awards received by the airline.
"We have been working hard to elevate our guest experience through greater digitalization, from check-in and boarding to online shopping to customer service, while maintaining our uniquely ASEAN hospitality, and this is recognition of our unceasing efforts to set the standard for low-cost air travel in the region," Fernandes said.
The World Travel Awards was established in 1993 and has grown to become one of the most prestigious and comprehensive awards program in the tourist industry. (liz)
