T

he University of Indonesia’s (UI) School of Economics and Business has been ranked the best business school in Indonesia, according to Paris-based global ranking and ratings agency for higher education Eduniversal Business Schools Ranking.

The same agency also listed the faculty at 39th position out of Asia’s 150 best business schools.

In addition to UI, the Bandung Institute of Technology’s (ITB) School of Business and Management and the IPMI International Business School have also been recognized in second and third place, respectively. The top three are perceived as “excellent business schools”.

The dean of the School of Economics and Business at UI, Ari Kuncoro, told Antara news agency that the faculty had successfully gained 144 percent of the poll during the “dean’s vote” phase held by Eduniversal. This percentage is larger compared to its previous vote two years ago, which was 116 percent.

Ari is hopeful the recognition will bring more attention to business schools in Indonesia.

“Hopefully it will also improve the accreditation and reputation of our school on a global scale."

The ranking rated 1,000 business schools in 154 countries worldwide, divided into nine geographical zones, namely Africa, Central Asia, Eastern Europe, Eurasia and the Middle East, Far East Asia, Latin America, North America, Oceania and Western Europe. (wir/kes)
