There are three issues that the Islamic world needs to highlight as far as youth is concerned.
he Islamic world today comprises more than 1.6 billion people, with 60 percent at a young, productive age. This is a great demographic dividend for the Muslim world.
Member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) have the responsibility of nurturing the youth, injecting them with morality, ethics and values, creating an environment conducive for them to grow and empowering them with economic and social skills. These efforts will help make the Islamic ummah great again.
However, the situation facing our youth today is concerning. They face persistent poverty, economic hardship as well as humanitarian disasters.
Their lives are disrupted by disputes and wars, often among OIC countries. Youth have also fallen victim to the ideology of terrorism, radicalism and extremism.
There are three issues that the Islamic world needs to highlight as far as youth is concerned.
First, Muslim youth around the world must unite, putting forward the spirit of Ukhwwah Islamiyah (Islamic solidarity).
Indonesia is saddened by open dispute among OIC members. No one is more satisfied watching disputes among brotherly OIC countries than those who do not want to see an Islamic world that is united and prospers.
