cultural event entitled Indonesian Cultural Congress, held on Dec. 5 to 9, resulted in a document called “Indonesian Cultural Strategy” (SKI), which was submitted to President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo.
The document contains seven strategic agendas for the promotion of national culture. Agenda 1 of this strategy addresses the need for space for inclusive expression and cultural interaction.
Acknowledging the document, President Jokowi stressed the importance of the availability of platforms for cultural expression. But that by itself would not be enough.
What is also needed, even more importantly, is “the availability of a platform for tolerant cultural interaction”.
