ertajati International Airport in Majalengka, West Java, has commenced the operations of its immigration gates, having assigned 10 officers from the immigration office of Cirebon, West Java to work at the five gates, where they will verify the travel documents of international passengers who pass through the airport.
The airport’s five immigration gates started operations on Oct. 13. The official launch of the international gates was attended by West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil and representatives from the Law and Human Rights Ministry.
According to the ministry’s immigration director general, Ronny F. Sompie, the number of immigration officers deployed was proportional to the number of international flights facilitated at the airport.
He also said that the number of officers would suffice the average of 190 passengers each flight. According to a press release, the airport launched its first international flight to Medina, Saudi Arabia on Oct. 13 by Lion Air, carrying 96 passengers.
“Currently, international flights arrive and depart only on Saturdays and Sundays,” he added.
