Strengthening young entrepreneurs' business skills through Jagoan Digital Banyuwangi

T

he Banyuwangi regency administration is once again hosting Jagoan Digital. This incubation program equips young people in the region with the skills to establish start-up businesses and offers substantial business capital prizes worth tens of millions of rupiah.

During the pitching session held at Pendopo Sabha Swagata on Aug, 25, 76 participants organized into 26 teams presented captivating start-up business ideas. They proposed a range of application ideas that cater to community needs.

One such idea is Tambalin, an innovative start-up concept that offers a tire repair and motor vehicle maintenance service application. The solution addresses flat tire and vehicle damage issues in the Banyuwangi area.

"Our projection is that our partners will be local tire repairmen and vehicle workshops throughout Banyuwangi. Customers can simply choose the nearest workshop equipped with location coordinates and select the required service," said Ahmad Rifki Kadafi, a member of the Tambalin team.

"This way, our focus lies on speed, effectiveness and naturally, fulfilling the needs of motorcyclists," he added.

In the Jagoan Digital pitching presentations, several start-up business ideas were highlighted by participants. These ideas ranged from electronic service offerings, education services, health care and tourism, to marketplaces for SMEs, local batik fashion, agriculture and digital products. Additionally, there were ideas for business development, investment and ventures, all developed through digital technology platforms.

Another showcased business idea was Calm Night, which assists customers in addressing sleep and insomnia problems. This concept arose from the phenomenon of both students and the general public experiencing insomnia due to excessive gadget use. Calm Night helps optimize sleep patterns intelligently.

"The Calm Night application offers special features that allow users to block access to specified applications during sleeping hours. Additionally, relaxation and therapy features are included to facilitate sleep. In the future, partnerships with doctors and psychologists will be established for consultation sessions related to insomnia," said Putri Diva from Calm Night.

Another participant offered an online psychological consultation service for students. This app connects students with their teachers to enable private sharing. This idea was inspired by the prevalence of psychological issues among children.

One of the jury members, Novan Adrian, CTO of Qasir.id, expressed admiration for the start-up business ideas presented by Jagoan Digital participants. He believed that the presented ideas could benefit society and drive Banyuwangi's progress.

"This is truly remarkable; I am impressed by the ideas presented by these participants. For instance, in the field of tourism, the ideas can be expanded to reach both domestic and international tourists. The potential is there; it just requires commitment to be realized," said Novan.

Prior to this, Jagoan Digital participants also underwent online and offline mentoring sessions on Aug. 16 and 24.

Among the presenters were cofounder of Indiekraf Indonesia, Fariez Rizky Wijaya; cofounder and president of Qasir.id, Rachmat Anggara; manager of Indigo Integration & Community Engagement at Telkom Indonesia, Ragil Widiharso; and founder of Pixel Creative and Digital Blockchain Indonesia, I Putu Indra, as well as academics.

The content covered various subjects including product development, creative thinking, start-up culture, user story, value proposition and customer care, UI/UX, HTML, CSS, API, back end, and more.

Banyuwangi Regent Ipuk Fiestiandani personally witnessed the presentations from the participant teams. Ipuk expressed her pride in the creative young minds producing innovative start-up business ideas.

"I believe that the ideas remain human-centered and genuinely meet community needs. This is excellent because it shows that these individuals are not only focusing on the technological aspects but are integrating them with human needs and skills," Ipuk said.

She hopes that the generated ideas can be well-executed and contribute to the region's progress.

"We want local start-ups to make a mark in the broader start-up ecosystem, both in terms of the market and funding or capital. We hope that in the future, Banyuwangi will give rise to start-ups that make the region proud," Ipuk concluded.
