Pertamina continues the implementation of its Langit Biru Program by developing plant-based and bioenergy-based vehicle fuels.
ertamina continues the implementation of its Langit Biru Program by developing plant-based and bioenergy-based vehicle fuels. This was conveyed by Pertamina President Director and CEO Nicke Widyawati at the House of Representatives (DPR) building on Wednesday, August 30, 2023.
“Through the Langit Biru Program, Pertamina has increased the octane level of the subsidized fuel from RON [Research Octane number] 88 to RON 90. Pertamina will continue the second stage of the Langit Biru Program by increasing the octane level of subsidized fuel from RON 90 to RON 92,” Nicke said.
Nicke stated that the initiative is now in the evaluation phase and that it is anticipated to be implemented beginning in 2024, after it is proposed to the government.
“In accordance with the KLHK [Environment and Forestry Industry] regulation, 91 is the minimum RON. In 2024, we kindly request your support as Pertamina will introduce Pertamax Green 92 by mixing Pertalite with 7 percent ethanol. Therefore, gasoline products moving forward will only consist of Pertamax Green 92, Pertamax Green 95 and Pertamax Turbo,” explained Nicke.
According to Nicke, this step is in line with global efforts to protect the environment as it can reduce carbon emissions and decrease gasoline imports.
Pertamina Vice President of Corporate Communication Fadjar Djoko Santoso added that the research on raising the octane rating of Pertalite gasoline from RON 90 to RON 92 is still in development and is included in the biofuel roadmap that will be given to the government.
“The spirit behind the development of biofuels is represented by Pertamina's effort to produce high-quality and environmentally friendly fuels,” said Fajar.
