Optimizing the future of work through safeguarding privacy, cybersecurity

I

n the span of approximately three years, the world of work has experienced significant changes, where for some, the daily grind begins in the living room instead of a cubicle.

The COVID-19 pandemic has shown that working from home is no barrier to completing deliverables, but as the world starts to reopen its doors, the future is increasingly hybrid.

A 2022 report by Cisco found that 83.5 percent of employees in Indonesia prefer a hybrid work arrangement, with 62.5 percent noting that hybrid working has improved their overall wellbeing.

However, an increasingly online workspace comes with its own risks. In 2022, the National Cyber and Encryption Agency (BSSN) recorded over 714 million cases of cyberattacks in the country, with the majority of the attacks dominated by ransomware, followed by phishing and exploitation of vulnerable points in the IT security system.

The Cisco report also stated that 85.9 percent of Indonesian employees feel cybersecurity is critical for making hybrid working safe, which spotlights the need for businesses to ensure security and privacy for their employees, as well as sensitive information.

In addition to due diligence among workers, security measures in the workplace can start with the appropriate equipment, such as the meeting room display and projector that are essential to a hybrid working environment.

Enterprise-grade products such as BenQ’s smart projectors and BenQ Board interactive displays address hybrid workplace security concerns with comprehensive administrative solutions, including endpoint control over security policies and updates, as well as centralized device and app management.

For instance, the BenQ EH620 smart projector offers protection against cyberattacks through WPA2-Enterprise wireless security and AES-128 data encryption to ensure secure wireless transmissions and protect the data transmitted by each client.

.

Powered by its onboard Windows operating system, the EH620 utilizes security features such as BitLocker encryption and Secure Boot to prevent unauthorized access to files, while additional hardware safeguards such as mainboard-embedded eMMC internal storage help eliminate physical security threats.

In terms of boardroom displays, the BenQ Board RP03 enables enhanced multilevel security with features such as Authentication Mode, which prohibits unauthorized access on specific displays; Restricted Mode to allow access to essential features and functions while preventing changes to device settings; and Guest Mode for limited use of public productivity tools.

In addition, BenQ’s Account Management System (AMS) offers customized workspace environments, private local storage and personalized settings, while also preventing data leaks from unlocked and unattended devices by implementing a customizable timeout to automatically log out idle accounts.

.

For an added layer of security, multi-factor authentication requires users to input a security code sent to a mobile device to prevent unauthorized access should their login credentials be compromised. By verifying the user's identity and device health, organizations can significantly reduce the risk of cyberattacks.

To that end, BenQ’s interactive displays offer secure and seamless access by providing options including NFC card or QR code login, multi-factor authentication, and secure cloud access to prevent unauthorized access and keep credentials private.

Along with security features, BenQ regularly provides the latest security patches and firmware updates for all conference room displays, enabling administrators to push over-the-air (OTA) updates to all deployed displays to ensure necessary and timely protections against exploits and related attacks while also helping keep the displays’ functioning at optimal performance.

With the future of work being hybrid, businesses must prioritize security to protect their employees and valuable company assets. BenQ’s conference room solutions offer a safe nexus point for collaborators in various locations to come together and ensure continued success in the hybrid future.
