T Pelita Air Service, a subsidiary of state-owned oil and gas company Pertamina, has announced the launch of a Jakarta-Bali route as it goes head-to-head with major airlines.

In a move away from the charter business, Pelita Air will use two recently purchased Airbus A320-200 aircraft for the popular route from Soekarno-Hatta International Airport near Jakarta to I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali.

The inaugural flight is scheduled for Thursday, Pelita Air Service announced in a press release on Wednesday.

The route is to be served daily with one flight in either direction. Flights are to depart from Soekarno-Hatta’s Terminal 3 at 9:20 a.m. and arrive in Bali at 12:10 p.m., both local times. The flight from Bali will depart at 2:55 p.m.

“The route was chosen because it is a favorite destination for tourists, especially as the pandemic gradually turns endemic,” Pelita Air Service president director Dendy Kurniawan said in the release, noting that the flight would also serve Idul Fitri holidaymakers this year and businesspeople.

The airline added that tickets could be obtained through its travel agent partners, namely Mitra Tours and Travel, Bayu Buana Travel and Panorama JTB Tour.
