GoFood Intensifies Efforts to Enhance MSME Visibility to Customers

“The Local Champion Collection” presents customers with a curated list of culinary delights in the greater Jakarta (Jabodetabek) area

Gojek, the on-demand service business unit of the GoTo Group, continues its commitment to serve as the best partner for MSME growth with the Koleksi Juara Lokal GoFood (GoFood Local Champion Collection) initiative, a special category within the app that features curated menus of local specialties from various regions. The unique collection aims to boost the visibility of local culinary MSMEs to millions of loyal GoFood customers.

Head of Regions & External Affairs Gojek, Gede Manggala, shared, “Data from the Ministry of Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises of Indonesia, reveals as of December 2022, 20.76 million MSMEs have joined digital platforms. But just joining a platform is not enough, MSMEs still need support and platform innovations to help them develop their businesses. In addition to supporting MSMEs with the latest technology, GoFood continuously develops MSME growth initiatives like the Koleksi Juara Lokal GoFood to promote local culinary MSMEs that have gone digital and enabling them to be more easily discovered by customers which increases their competitiveness and enhances their businesses sustainably.”

The wide range of regional specialty menu items featured in the Koleksi Juara Lokal GoFood have been carefully curated to include recommendations of signature dishes, legendary restaurants, hidden gems, and local favorites, as well as local culinary MSMEs that have shown positive business growth and have the potential for further development.

"The Koleksi Juara Lokal GoFood provides greater visibility and opportunities for local culinary MSMEs to reach a broader customer base. This initiative was first launched in Bali in November 2022, coinciding with the G20 Summit. Koleksi Juara Lokal GoFood has been expanded to other cities, including Makassar, Medan, Balikpapan, Surabaya, Bandung, and Jabodetabek," added Gede.

Research conducted by Alvara Research Center in 2022 found that traditional Indonesian cuisine or regional food is the most widely sold food category by Indonesian MSMEs, accounting for 42.3% of the total respondents interviewed. This fact has inspired Gojek to further support the progress of culinary MSMEs specializing in selling regional menu items.
