he state-run Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK) has identified suspicious transactions in key public infrastructure and industrial projects linked to civil servants and politicians.
PPATK head Ivan Yustiavandana said 36.81 percent of all national strategic project (PSN) funds allocated for operational activities had been received by subcontractors. However, 36.67 percent of transactions for PSNs were allegedly used for self-interest, he said.
“An in-depth examination of transactions unrelated to project development revealed that [the funds] flowed to people identified as state civil servants and politicians and that [the perpetrators used the money] to buy assets and investments,” Ivan told a press conference in Jakarta on Wednesday, as reported by Bisnis.
The financial watchdog did not provide details on the PSNs in question, nor on the amount of funds involved.

PPATK acting undersecretary of analysis and inspection Danang Tri Hartono said the matter was now being handled by law enforcement authorities.
“You can see the recent cases related to PSNs. They have been investigated by the investigators and exposed by the mass media, so you can draw your conclusions,” he said at the same event in Jakarta on Wednesday, according to the Bisnis report.
