Pertamina has launched Diesel X, a low-sulfur vehicle fuel claimed to be relatively environmentally friendly and efficient.
President director Simon Aloysius Mantiri hailed the product as part of Pertamina’s push for innovation and sustainability.
“Diesel X is the answer to the need for clean energy in the industrial sector. With higher fuel efficiency, this product supports energy sustainability while minimizing negative environmental impact,” Simon said on Thursday at an event marking the diesel brand’s introduction.
The state-owned oil and gas company also described the product launch as a move toward self-sufficiency in energy, in line with President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka’s Asta Cita development program.
Asta Cita comprises the administration’s eight primary objectives for a “more prosperous Indonesia”, including strengthening the Pancasila state ideology, improving national defense and pushing for independence through food, energy and economic self-sufficiency.

Diesel X is produced by PT Kilang Pertamina Internasional (KPI), Pertamina’s oil refinery and petrochemical subholding company. It will contain sulfur below 10 ppm, in line with the European Union’s EURO V standard.
