ndonesia is preparing a national road map for intellectual property development that is set to be launched through a Presidential Regulation by the end of 2029.
The Law Ministry’s intellectual property director general Razilu said on Thursday that the road map would soon become binding across ministries and agencies after being drafted internally.
“By late 2028 or in 2029, we aim to have a national strategic road map in place to ensure cross-sectoral commitment to building a strong IP ecosystem,” Razilu said in an IP directorate general media gathering in South Jakarta.

The plan will include accelerating IP services for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), universities and the creative industry, in a push to strengthen IP’s contribution to the national economy, he said.
In 2025, the directorate general was tasked by the National Development Planning Ministry (Bappenas) with developing a concept paper for the IP regulation.
Razilu said the government has introduced regulatory reforms to simplify IP processes, including reducing trademark certification and application timelines to six months.
