View all search resultss part of its commitment to promote smart living through better financial decisions, PT LG Electronics Indonesia (LG) recently held an event focused on parenting and financial planning for the modern household.
The discussion was attended by members of several parenting communities, with topics ranging from encouraging a healthy lifestyle for the whole family to educating children on saving money from an early age.
"We hope that through this activity, we can encourage a frugal lifestyle as a change, but without having to sacrifice comfort," said Ha Sang-chul, president of LG Electronics Indonesia.
According to Ha Sang-chul, educating the public on a frugal lifestyle is needed in the midst of modern culture, as electronic household appliances contribute a significant amount to the monthly expenses, especially electricity bills.
How choices matter
In a panel session titled “Hidup Hemat, Tetap Nyaman” (“Live Frugally yet Comfortably), CFP-certified financial planner and financial literacy content creator Nadia Harsya noted that aside from evaluating the household’s wants and needs as well as prioritizing expenditures, one of the most important aspects families should keep in mind is choosing energy-efficient appliances and electronics.
The accumulation of savings from a lower electricity bill, she continues, can be allocated to more important matters, or invested into future savings.
According to Nadia, monitoring electricity consumption from each electronic appliance is important by looking into their daily usage, with one of the biggest contributors being air-conditioning (AC) units.
AC unit electricity consumption is tied to its lengthy usage on a given day, such as nighttime use for at least eight hours. At the same time, users might prefer additional cooling during the day according to their preferences, which can also impact the electricity bill.
Additional factors such as a room’s heat sources and the number of times the room is closed or opened can also affect the AC’s compressor, as it will require more electricity to keep the room at the required temperature.
”We don’t often realize that our habits can also incur additional costs. At this stage, choosing the right electronic appliance is vital to save money without sacrificing comfort,” Nadia said.
Comfort through innovation
Noticing the crux of the issue, LG has equipped its residential AC units with the DUAL Inverter Compressor technology.
The word DUAL refers to the application of two wheel rotations in one inverter AC compressor lever. By using double rotation, the AC unit’s compressor can be more precise in adjusting the cooling speed according to individual user needs.
By running automatically, the compressor will increase its power when the room temperature shows an increase from the desired setting to adjust accordingly. Once the desired room temperature is reached, the compressor remains active with a slower rotation.
"When the temperature increases again, the compressor speeds up its rotation again. This allows the room to reach the desired temperature without having to turn the AC unit off and on, so it doesn't incur high costs caused by the large initial electricity usage," explains Abhinyano, LG Electronics Indonesia head of product marketing ES, adding that LG's DUALCOOL Inverter AC can save up to 70 percent energy compared to non-inverter ACs.
For a more optimal performance, the DUALCOOL Inverter AC is equipped with an energy control feature that can be set via remote control, allowing users to choose a lower percentage of electricity usage from 80 percent, 60 percent to only 40 percent of the normal mode requirement.
"This feature provides the option to save more energy when the ambient temperature tends to be cool, or at night before going to bed when the rest room tends to be cool beforehand. Thus, users can reduce their electricity usage without reducing their personal comfort," Abhinyano said.
The energy savings provided by the DUALCOOL Inverter AC has received certification from the University of Indonesia (UI).
Results of tests conducted by the Community Service and Service Unit of the Department of Electrical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, University of Indonesia (UP2M DTE FTUI) on the electricity consumption of the LG DUALCOOL Inverter New Eco AC showed that this AC has a low daily electricity consumption, around 1.04 kWh for the 1/2 PK model (T05EV5), at a cost of around Rp 1,500.
"This test is part of our responsibility to provide technology that has been truly tested by an institution that has a high reputation in terms of independence," said Mike Kim, LG Electronics Indonesia’s product director ES.
He noted that though the LG DUALCOOL Inverter AC unit is economical to run, the innovative Dual Inverter compressor does not scrimp on comfort as its double rotation feature allows for faster room cooling of up to 40 percent.
"The unique work of savings that still provides comfort in use, makes the LG DUALCOOL Inverter AC the right supporter of an economical lifestyle," said Kim.
In addition to achieving certification for its product performance, LG AC units, especially in the residential category, have a high reputation for innovation and the trust of Indonesian consumers shown by various awards, including the Top Brand Award 2024-2025, Brand Choice Award 2024-2025, Wow Brand Award 2025 and Super Brand Award 2025.
"With certification and expansion of education efforts, we hope to be able to contribute more to creating change in society by making the right choice to improve quality of life," Ha Sang-chul concluded.
