ince its founding nearly five centuries ago, Jakarta has always been a melting pot of cultures and communities, each bringing a touch of heritage as they settle into the sprawling megapolitan they now call home.

Today, each neighborhood is as distinct as its residents, and the myriad restaurants and eateries that dot the city tell a story with each bite and sip. From lavish fine dining, trendy dessert spots to so-called “hidden gems” only locals know, Jakarta’s foodies are always on the prowl for both curious and familiar tastes.

Aligning itself with Jakarta’s vibrant culinary scene, Gojek’s online food delivery service GoFood and dining out companion GoDineIn has collaborated with online gastronomy platform Feastin’ to launch the culinary handbook Food Guide: Blok M dan Sekitarnya as the first district-based culinary guide in Indonesia.

Launched on July 24, Food Guide: Blok M dan Sekitarnya features a curated list of 100 eateries in Blok M, Melawai, Mahakam, Bulungan, Panglima Polim and Gandaria, selected for their flavor profiles as well as their creativity, authenticity and links to the community.

In a time when food recommendations are often driven solely by fleeting virality, this guide serves as a culinary compass; offering legitimacy, depth, and community-rooted insight that food lovers can genuinely rely on.

The choice of Blok M and its surrounding districts is driven by the neighborhood’s dynamic innovations throughout the years, from the first branches of American fast food chains, family-owned restaurants passed down from generations to generations, to authentic Japanese cuisine frequented by expatriates looking for a taste of home.

Blok M’s enduring appeal and revival as the “it” neighborhood is also closely linked to Jakarta’s developments in recent years, ranging from improved public transportation like the MRT, establishment of creative spaces like M Bloc Space, to green public spaces like the Martha Tiahahu Literacy Park.

Gojek, also headquartered in Blok M, sees the momentum as a chance to support the district’s burgeoning culinary businesses while also observing the changing trends and consumer behavior that makes the city a vibrant culinary destination.

We've witnessed firsthand how Blok M continues to evolve, adapting to the characteristics and needs of changing generations. GoFood also brings this spirit to our approach to our customers—to stay up-to-date on emerging trends and innovate to meet the ever-changing needs of our community,” says Ignatius Rio, Head of Marketing Food & Ads Gojek.

“We want to make culinary experiences more practical, convenient, and in tune with today’s urban lifestyle. Through GoFood and GoDineIn, customers can easily explore legendary spots, trending restaurants, and hidden gems; all from the Gojek app. Wondering what’s hot nearby? Just scroll. Plus, there are plenty of exclusive deals ready to treat our customers.”

“This collaboration reaffirms our commitment to partnering with our merchant partners to ensure their continued growth. Through Food Guide: Blok M dan Sekitarnya, we aim to enhance our merchants’ visibility, helping them to earn greater recognition and scale up their businesses alongside us,” continued Rio.

The guidebook will be available for free at participating GoFood merchants featured in it, inviting both locals and visitors to explore the district. Each merchant will also receive a distinctive GoFood placard, making it easier for food lovers to discover them while strolling through Blok M area

“We hope this kind of collaboration can continue in other culinary districts in Jakarta and other major cities across Indonesia. This collaborative spirit is key to creating a mutually supportive, sustainable and innovative culinary ecosystem that adapts to dynamic trends,” Rio concluded.
