ash and valuables management solution provider Brink’s Indonesia announced recently the successful deployment of its 1,000th Digital Retail Solution (DRS) machine in collaboration with minimarket chain Alfamart.

The event marked a significant milestone in the transformation of retail cash management in Indonesia. The DRS solution has been implemented in Alfamart stores across the country since 2021, offering a secure, efficient and fully digitized alternative to traditional cash handling processes.

“The deployment of 1,000 DRS machines across Alfamart stores is more than a technological achievement, it’s a testament to the power of partnership,” Brinks executive vice president and Brink’s Asia Pacific president Nader Antar said in a press statement.

“Together with Alfamart, we are transforming cash management into a faster, safer and smarter process, setting a new benchmark for innovation and operational excellence in Indonesia’s retail sector.”

Since their introduction, DRS machines have significantly improved the way Alfamart handles daily cash operations.

Key benefits include faster and more accurate end-of-day deposits, reduction in human errors and manual counting, increased safety for cashiers and store operations and enhanced transparency and real-time monitoring.

Alfamart president director Anggara Hans Prawira welcomed this strategic partnership and stated that the adoption of technology such as DRS is in line with the company’s vision to continuously innovate in delivering the best service to the community.

"Operational progress must go hand in hand with technological advancement so that Alfamart remains relevant and adaptive amid the dynamics of the retail industry," he said in the statement.

Separately, Brink’s Indonesia chief executive officer David Maksud said the DRS technology allowed financial recording and reconciliation to be done quickly and accurately.

“Our collaboration with Alfamart proves that digitalization in cash management is no longer a discourse but has become a real need to ensure accuracy, speed and security in each transaction,” David said, as quoted by kontan.co.id.

In the future, Brink’s plans to expand the adoption of this technology to other retail chains, as well as developing new digital services to support modernization in the retail sector.
