ordan's King Abdullah II has invited state asset fund Danantara to invest up to US$1.3 billion in infrastructure and energy projects in his country. The offer, extended during a two-day visit to Jakarta, opens the door to a major overseas move for the fund.

The investment proposal foresees Danatara financing key domestic projects within the kingdom, including a gas pipeline project valued at approximately $1 billion and a toll road project estimated at $300 million, in addition to building logistics facilities.

Investment and Downstream Minister Rosan Roeslani said on Saturday that Dannatara operated with strict commercial targets and the proposed projects in Jordan appeared to align with the fund's required return on investment, making them viable opportunities for consideration. He explained that any potential investment would follow a business-to-business (B2B) scheme.

"We will evaluate and follow up on that," he confirmed on Saturday following a meeting in Jakarta between President Prabowo Subianto and the Jordanian monarch, according to a report from state news agency Antara.

"The scheme is B2B. At Danatara, we always have a return target. And it seems to fit in with the overall return on investment we're aiming for, so we can invest there."

The minister confirmed that Danatara had been invited to Jordan this December to conduct further evaluations on the proposed projects, for which he would act as the primary government contact point.
