Marriott Hotel Jakarta on Nov. 18, PT Bintang Distribution & Logistics Group (PT Bintang Inter Global) CEO Herman The explained that Perspirex’s parent company Orkla Health appointed them as the brand’s new national distributor, driven by its success in developing the Jordan brand of oral care products since 2018, as well as its consecutive achievement of the Best Growth Company award in the Asia Pacific region for four consecutive years.

"Our company, founded in 2010, has focused on importing and internationally distributing FMCG products with a network of more than 37 distributors throughout Indonesia. We represent various global brands from Europe, Denmark, Egypt, China, Korea, Singapore and Malaysia," he explained.

Specifically designed for people with excessive sweating, Perspirex is manufactured by Riemann A/S, a Danish manufacturer of specialized skincare products under Orkla Health Group. The product is known for its high quality, effectiveness and safety, in line with Orkla Health's rigorous research and clinical testing standards.

During the event, Herman noted that Indonesian consumers are becoming increasingly discerning, as they start considering other factors outside of price when it comes to buying a product.

A deodorant alternative

Because of its nature as an antiperspirant, Perspirex is claimed to be a more effective solution for deodorant as it works to reduce sweat production instead of just masking body odor.

Reza, a member of the Perspirex Indonesia team, said the product addresses sweat problems in the simplest way, as it only needs to be applied at night to provide sweat protection for three to five days. This allows a single bottle of Perspirex to last up to four months.

The difference between antiperspirants and deodorants, he continues, is that antiperspirants reduce sweat production by forming a gel-like barrier that contains aluminum salts in the sweat ducts, while deodorants only reduce odor and use fragrances and antibacterials like triclosan.

Perspirex works by combining aluminum chloride and a skin care system that forms a temporary plug in the sweat ducts, preventing sweat from reaching the skin's surface and keeping the area dry and odor-free.

The plug, which can last from between three to five days, dissolves naturally through skin regeneration and continuous sweat production. In addition, Perspirex’s skin care system helps reduce the potential for irritation that can occur with extra-strong products.

"The best time to use Perspirex is at night. Sweat glands are less active, so the product works more optimally," Reza explained, adding that it should not be used after shaving or hair removal, and that users should make sure that their skin is dry and unbroken. Wait for 24-48 hours after shaving or hair removal before using Perspirex

At the same time, Perspirex should be used sparingly, meaning only in small amounts of two upward strokes and two downward strokes to avoid irritation. The product does not need to be reapplied in the morning, and will not be affected by other deodorant or perfume use.

Dermatologist Dr. Reeza Edward said that Perspirex is a medically safe product when used as directed, as its formulation has undergone extensive research to ensure both effectiveness and safety.

"Is it dangerous or not? Medically speaking, the answer is no. This product has been designed through extensive research to be effective and safe. The blockage in the sweat ducts will also be removed by the body's natural processes," he said.

However, Dr. Reeza cautioned that irritation can still occur, though it is generally caused by overuse, sensitive skin or poor hygiene. Therefore, following the instructions, using a small amount only at night and not applying it daily is key to getting maximum benefits without side effects.

Beginners who want to try Perspirex are recommended to start with Perspirex Comfort, which offers protection for two to three days, before working up to the Perspirex Original that offers coverage for three to five days. Meanwhile, the Perspirex Strong variant is specially designed to combat heavy sweating, offering effectiveness for five days.
