Indonesians and visitors welcome the policy change with welcoming arms.

On May 17, President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo announced that the COVID-19 tests — namely PCR or antigen — on arrival for foreign and domestic travelers would no longer be required for those who have received the complete vaccination doses. Countries like Australia and Singapore have also removed pre-departure PCR testing. 

Before the regulation was revoked, international travelers had to provide physical or digital evidence of a PCR test, which had to be obtained within 2x24 hours before their international flight to Indonesia. Alternatively, international travelers were required to provide an antigen test carried out 1x24 hours before their flight.

The new travel regulation is welcomed by the Indonesian diaspora and others who frequently travel for various purposes to-and-from Indonesia.
