A 'Mega' Bollywood concert is coming to Jakarta

Famed Bollywood artists are coming to Jakarta for a big concert on Sept. 3.
With a huge population of Bollywood fans across the country, Indonesia is going to be the home of the aptly-titled Mega Bollywood Concert on Sept. 3 at the Jakarta International Expo convention center in Kemayoran, North Jakarta.
Organized by India Club Jakarta, the concert is also titled Kal Aaj Aur Kal (yesterday, today and tomorrow) on the poster, referencing the famous 1971 film of the same name. The concert will see many renowned Bollywood artists perform, including singers Udit Narayan, Shaan and Babul Supriyo.
Udit Narayan—famous for singing “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai”—is a singer whose music has accompanied numerous Hindi films. Meanwhile, Shantanu "Shaan" Mukherjee is a singer, actor and television presenter renowned for hit soundtracks to Bollywood dramas like Fanna and Kuch Naa Kaho and Babul Supriyo is a singer who currently serves as the information technology and electronics and tourism minister of the government of West Bengal. He is best known in the entertainment world as the singer of “Chori Chori Chupke Chupke”.
Indonesia has been a big market for Bollywood films and soap operas over the last decade. Television shows like Uttaran, Mahabharata and Jodha Akbar gained popularity locally, which prompted actors to star in several Indonesian soap operas as well. Bollywood songs are also widely known in Indonesia. The country’s own music genre dangdut is heavily influenced by traditional North Indian music, among other influences.
The organizer, India Club Jakarta — established in 1981—is the oldest nonprofit organization promoting Indian culture in Indonesia and is a community for all Indians in the country.
