‘Blank Rainbow, Vol. 1’

Buy at kambojapress.com.

Analog photographer Robby Wahyudi Onggo is a figure in the independent music scene known for his multiple roles as a promoter, documentarian, manager and online radio DJ. Blank Rainbow Vol. 1 takes its title from his longtime blog and is the artist’s first collection of film photography.

Robby’s grainy, casual photos document musicians and scenesters around his orbit. Described as “a documentary project done on a whim”, it can be compared aesthetically to Andy Warhol’s The Factory days and is fit for those interested in the local creative scene, especially the indie music ecosystem, as seen from an underground perspective.

Bintaro Design District

Until Saturday. Further information available at Bintarodesigndistrict.com and instagram.com/bintarodesigndistrict.

This all-around festival focuses on Indonesia’s growing architectural, graphic, interior and product design scene. Those interested in the rapid growth of Indonesia’s creative industry need to visit. It exhibits the rise of stylish and effective local branding, design and architecture in recent years. Stronger curators, higher-quality designers, better studios and a demanding market have been good for local designers.

Offering an exhaustive list of activities, the event includes exhibitions, installations, talk shows, workshops, masterclasses and curatorial tours from the country’s most renowned names and studios, as well as rising newcomers.

The event is being held at 33 spots around Jakarta and Tangerang.

(Nah Ini Dia) Yang Gak Main di Festival Ternama

Dekhad Gandaria, Saturday.

This independent rock show jokingly calls itself “the event for bands who aren’t playing at those famous festivals”, referring to the multiple big music festivals held the same weekend. For music fans who see themselves as true indie-heads, with a penchant for underrated underdogs, this lineup has indie rockers in spades. Performing are emotional (not “emo”, mind you) rockers Alpha Mortal Foxtrot, garage-y melodic rock band Dried Cassava, as well as alt-rockers Satu Per Empat and Peraukertas.
