video recorded by singer Ari Lasso criticizing Batik Air for tardiness and ultimately leaving him behind at Singapore’s Changi Airport has gone viral on social media, eliciting promises of an investigation from the airline.

Ari, of Indonesian rock band Dewa 19, recorded the video on Wednesday after his flight to Jakarta took off without him.

Batik Air corporate communications officer Danang Mandala said in a statement reported by media outlet Detik on Thursday that flight ID-7150 had to postpone its departure for four hours as a result of “operational issues due to the impact of poor weather on the previous route”.

Danang added that Batik Air had already refunded Ari’s ticket to Jakarta.

“Currently, Batik Air is undergoing an internal investigation in regard to the issue. The investigation’s results will be in the form of recommendations or references used to improve the quality of services for guests,” Danang said.

Ari, in his video, addressed Batik Air and Lion Group, saying that he was “left behind by your plane in Singapore”.

“I bought a business round-trip ticket, and my flight was scheduled [to take off] at 17:35. But yesterday, I received a WhatsApp message that the flight was rescheduled to 19:35,” Ari shared on social media.

“When I arrived at the gate, the gate was changed to gate 21. When I went in there, they said ‘Hey, this is not your flight’, so I moved to another gate and they said, ‘your flight has departed’,” the 49-year-old singer added.
