em>The luxury carmaker has launched its first fully electric sedan and SUV, both fitted with the artificial intelligence-powered MBUX for managing various functionalities.

Mercedes-Benz Indonesia launched on Dec. 9 its flagship sedan EQS and the EQE all-electric SUV from its new brand of fully electric cars, Mercedes-EQ, at Senayan City in South Jakarta, in its first step toward “a climate-neutral future”.

“Sustainability is the key for Mercedes-Benz, our reason to have a vision for an emission-free fleet of vehicles,” said Choi Duk Jun, president director of Mercedes-Benz Distribution Indonesia.

He added that the luxury automaker hoped to achieve carbon neutrality by 2039 “and go all-electric by the end of the decade”.

The EQS has a battery with a usable energy capacity of 107.8 kilowatt-hour (kWh), and can travel 770 kilometers on a single charge. Meanwhile, the EQE can travel up to 660 km on a single charge.

The EQS is also equipped with Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX), an advanced multimedia infotainment system that combines media and navigation. The MBUX uses artificial intelligence so it can adapt to a user’s preferences, while also offering personalized suggestions for numerous functions to manage infotainment, comfort and the vehicle’s operation.
