Get ready for a grand crescendo in the Indonesian musical scene at the end of this month. On Oct. 28-29, Ciputra Artpreneur will again be the stage for the Indonesian Musical Festival (FMI), showcasing a medley of theatrical performances that blend the arts of singing, acting and dancing.
This two-day extravaganza is a collaboration between the directorate of film, music and media under the Education, Culture, Research and Technology Ministry, the Eksotika Karmawibhangga Indonesia (EKI) foundation and Ciputra Artpreneur.
Returning for the second year, the festival promises to be even more spectacular than its 2022 debut with the involvement of young curators, an expanded line-up of theater troupes and diverse thematic presentations, offering a richer and more engaging experience for audiences.
A vision in action
The FMI was inspired by the late EKI founder, Rusdy Rukmarata, who envisioned a festival to connect young musical talents, enhance their skills and support Indonesia’s growing musical industry.
“The [first] festival turned out to be a lot of fun,” EKI’s producer and Rusdy’s wife Aiko Senosoenoto said during a press conference in Ciputra Artpreneur in Jakarta on Oct. 5. “Many came during the event and enjoyed the shows. So, we believe that we have to organize it annually.”
