Edwin and Putri Marino have teamed up once again, eight years after teen drama 'Posesif', this time in a thriller that could raise some sticky issues from a dark past, albeit fictionalized.
Can lightning strike the same place twice?
Director Edwin and Putri Marino's first collaboration, the 2017 teen drama Posesif, was such a spectacular box office success that it helped Edwin level up from an indie darling to an A-list director.
Posesif also anointed Putri as a talent to watch, earning her a Citra Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role. In their latest outing, the two have again joined their forces to deliver the psychological crime thriller Kabut Berduri (Borderless Fog), distributed by Netflix.
Their reunion alone seems to assure the success of Borderless Fog, at least on paper, but in an interview on July 31, the pair preferred to focus on the joy of their professional reunion instead of any expectations stemming from their previous collaboration.
"When we were working on Posesif, I was still hesitant about asking questions and asking for help," Putri reminisced.
"Now that the two of us are close friends, there are no more walls between us. Now it's easier to have a discussion, do the reading and such. On the set [of Borderless Fog], Edwin was my number-one support system," she said.
