or two days from Aug.12 to 13, a Michelin-starred chef invites guests for an exquisite dinner at the Kayuputi Restaurant, St. Regis Bali Resort. Dutch chef of Indonesian descent, Friso van Amerongen, will be displaying his skills from the Michelin-starred restaurant Wils, known for its fire technique with the unique quality of heat and smoke infused into every dish.

While his mother hailed from Jakarta, chef Van Amerongen was born and raised in the Netherlands, in The Hague. His burning passion for cooking sent him traveling around Costa Rica to sharpen his skills in food and fishing. Then, he spent five years delving into culinary hospitality at Dylan Amsterdam Hotel’s Michelin-starred restaurant. There, he learned directly from renowned chefs Dennis Kuipers and Jurgen van der Zalm.

Finally, Van Amerongen joined the RIJKS restaurant led by chef Joris Bijdendijk and was appointed to Bijdendijk’s new restaurant branch, Wils. It was there where Van Amerongen’s journey to becoming a Michelin-starred chef began.
