Maybank Indonesia announces winner of Maybank Marathon 2022

T Bank Maybank Indonesia, Tbk. (Maybank Indonesia) held the Maybank Marathon 2022 on Sunday in Gianyar, Bali, with 10,000 runners from 50 countriesm and the event has announced its winners for the marathon, half marathon and 10K from the open and national categories.

Maybank Marathon 2022 has named Hassan Toriss (bib 004) from Morroco as the champion of the Marathon Open Male category with a finish time of 2:15:38. His counterpart in the Marathon Open Female category was Immaculate Chemutai (bib 025) from Uganda, with a finish time of 2:42:32. Toriss and Chemutai were each awarded a cash prize of Rp 200 million (US$13,000).

Meanwhile, Rikki Marthin Luther Simbolon was the champion of the Marathon National Male category with a finish time of 2:34:49, while the winner of the Marathon National Female category was Odekta Elvina Naibaho, with a finish time of 2:55:45. The two winners were each awarded Rp 125 million for their individual achievements.

Other notable runners include the winners of the Half Marathon (21K): Mathew Samperu and Rosemary Mumo Katua, both from Kenya, won the men’s and women’s open categories of the event, while Syamsuddin Massa and Desi Kristiani won the men’s and women’s national categories.

The 10K open category saw homegrown runners Rahmat Setiabudi and Dian Ekayati win their respective events, while Gede Astawa and Nor Alia took first place in the men’s and women’s 10K national category.

"We have successfully held the Maybank Marathon 2022 in Bali today, and we extend our great gratitude and appreciation to all parties who supported the Marathon 2022 since its launch in March 2022,” said Maybank Marathon 2022 project director Widya Permana.

“On the conclusion of our World Athletics 'Elite' Label road race, Maybank Marathon 2022, we congratulate all winners whose achievements have demonstrated a strong determination to reach their personal best in every category," he added.

Maybank Indonesia, the country’s first and only World Athletics “Elite” Label road race, received the support of various stakeholders, including the Bali provincial government, the Bali Police department, the Gianyar regency government, the Indonesian Red Cross and the Indonesian Athletics Association (PASI).

The marathon was also supported by a range of sponsors that included Aqua, New Balance, Etiqa Indonesia, Pocari Sweat, Taman Bhagawan, and the Bali Safari & Marine Park. The event’s media partners were Metro TV, Berita Satu Media Holdings, Tribun Group, Jawa Pos Group, LKBN Antara, Tempo Media Group and Gatra Media Group.
