Bank Woori Saudara (BWS) inaugurated on Wednesday its newest branch office in Pekanbaru, Riau Province.

Located on Jl. Jend. Sudirman No. 628 in Tangkerang Tengah, Marpoyan Damai, the BWS Pekanbaru branch office was opened during a ceremony attended by BWS Corporate Director Kang Bong Joo, BWS strategy and planning head Ahn Jung Kyun and BWS network operations head Makhrizal Siregar.

Also in attendance were present there Bank Indonesia-Riau director Muhammad Nur and representatives from the Riau province office of the Financial Services Authority (OJK) as well as the intelligence heads (Kasi Intel) of the Pekanbaru Military Resort Command (Korem), the Pekanbaru Air Force and the Pekanbaru Military District Command (Kodim), as well as local officials from the Indonesian Military Insurance (Asabri) and Public Servants Savings and Insurance (Taspen).

In his speech, BWS corporate director Kang related that the bank’s name derived from the Korean “woori” meaning “we” and the Indonesian “saudara” meaning “kin”. Combined together as “woori saudara”, this meant “we are family”.

"I and all employees at BWS always keep this meaning in mind, and promise to take care of our customers like they are family,” Kang told those gathered at the opening ceremony.

With the inauguration of the BWS Pekanbaru branch office, the bank now operates a total of seven local offices on Sumatra, consisting of four branch offices and three subbranch offices across Pekanbaru, Medan, Palembang and Bandar Lampung.

Through the presence of its latest branch office in the “City of Madani”, BWS hopes to contribute to enhancing financial access and inclusion by offering its superior banking services and products to the people of Pekanbaru.
