PJS Kesehatan has once again achieved notable success, securing two prestigious awards at the Asian Technology Excellence Awards 2024 held on Sept. 5. This accomplishment underscores BPJS Kesehatan's continued efforts to leverage technology to enhance healthcare services for all Indonesians.

The first award received was the Indonesia Technology Excellence Award for Information Management – Healthcare for i-Care JKN, Indonesia's national health insurance program electronic health record retrieval system. This accolade was awarded for the development of i-Care JKN, which has been recognized for facilitating easier and faster healthcare services for medical personnel by providing access to patient health records under the National Health Insurance (JKN) program. Through i-Care JKN, medical professionals can access real-time health information, aiding in the planning and delivery of more accurate and efficient treatments.

“This award demonstrates that our health insurance information system is not only effective but also meets international standards. i-Care JKN enables medical personnel to obtain accurate and up-to-date data, which is crucial for making informed medical decisions for JKN participants,” said Ghufron Mukti, president director of BPJS Kesehatan, who was joined by Edwin Aristiawan, director of information technology at BPJS Kesehatan.

In addition to doctors, JKN participants can also access i-Care JKN through the Mobile JKN application. This allows participants to easily view their health service history at both primary and advanced healthcare facilities. The goal is to provide more accessible, efficient and equitable services through various digital innovations.

“Beyond benefiting medical professionals, i-Care JKN also facilitates communication and collaboration among doctors, especially when patients are referred to other specialists. The application interacts with P-Care and SIM RS through a bridging scheme, enabling smoother information exchange among different healthcare providers,” Ghufron said.

The second award BPJS Kesehatan received was the Indonesia Technology Excellence Award for Mobile – Healthcare for FIT with Mobile JKN and Teleconsulting with Mobile JKN Healthcare. This award recognized the innovation behind Mobile JKN. The application supports digital healthcare services with various features accessible to participants, including remote consultations. With this feature, participants who face barriers to accessing healthcare facilities can utilize the application for convenient healthcare services at their fingertips.

“Mobile JKN is a prime example of how technology can simplify access to healthcare services. With this application, JKN participants can receive healthcare services easily, including consultations that are not bound by location or time,” Ghufron added.

As technology advances and the demand for quick and accessible healthcare services rises, BPJS Kesehatan is committed to further developing the Mobile JKN application to meet public expectations. Ghufron is confident that innovations like Mobile JKN will play a crucial role in transforming healthcare services in Indonesia.

“These two awards not only affirm BPJS Kesehatan’s successful implementation of technology but also reinforce our commitment to enhancing the quality of health insurance services in Indonesia. Through these innovations, BPJS Kesehatan aims to address challenges and ensure better access to health care for all JKN participants,” Ghufron concluded.

The awards were initiated by The Asian Business Review and saw participation from various institutions and companies across the Asia-Pacific region.
