ndonesia is collaborating with various partners to achieve comprehensive digital transformation, including strengthening ties with Singapore. In a meeting with the Singaporean ambassador to Indonesia, His Excellency Kwok Fook Seng and Administrative and Bureaucratic Reforms (PAN-RB) Minister Rini Widyantini, discussed strategic measures to enhance cooperation between the two countries in digital transformation and inclusive public services.

Minister Rini highlighted the positive outcomes of the Indonesia-Singapore partnership, particularly in the areas of digitization and public sector governance. Singapore has provided consistent support for Indonesia's digital transformation efforts.

“We need to learn from how the Singaporean government has advanced digitization. We also want to explore how to educate the public on digital transformation, ensuring its acceptance and utilization,” said Rini during the meeting in Jakarta on Tuesday.

She further elaborated that Indonesia’s digital transformation journey has been bolstered by the issuance of Presidential Regulation No. 82/2023 on the Acceleration of Digital Transformation and Integration of National Digital Services. Efforts are being directed toward refining digital governance, fostering GovTech initiatives and strengthening public digital infrastructure.

“To achieve integrated and inclusive digital governance, it is essential to establish strategic platforms that address societal needs. By enhancing public digital infrastructure, including digital IDs, data exchange platforms and digital payment systems, we are building a strong foundation for public services,” Rini explained.

Looking ahead, digital transformation will prioritize a citizen-centric approach, focusing on key life moments spanning from birth to end-of-life events. The government aims to be more engaged in citizens' lives through proactive, personalized and integrated digital services.

Rini expressed hope that Singapore would continue to support Indonesia’s digital transformation journey. “We appreciate the Singaporean government’s support for our digitalization efforts and public sector governance. I believe this partnership will continue to thrive in the coming years, enabling us to achieve our shared goals,” she said.

Ambassador Kwok Fook Seng emphasized the importance of inclusive public services amid ongoing digitalization. He noted that Singapore continued to maintain conventional services to ensure citizens across generations are adequately served.

“We still employ traditional methods to assist senior citizens, whose digital skills may not match those of younger generations. Public services must embrace and serve everyone,” he remarked.

He also shared that Singapore’s journey toward digital integration, which has positioned it as a global leader, took nearly two decades. In its early stages, Singapore faced challenges similar to those Indonesia is experiencing, particularly in integrating diverse government applications.

“The challenges we faced in Singapore were similar to what Indonesia is encountering now. Each ministry or agency developed its own applications, and it took time to integrate them,” he explained.

Concluding the meeting, minister Rini and ambassador Kwok Fook Seng reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the well-established bilateral relationship. They agreed that the partnership would remain dynamic, as digital transformation and inclusive public services must continuously evolve in line with technological advancements.
