eather Lois Mack, an American citizen who was released early from her sentence for killing her mother in a luxury Bali hotel, will be deported from Indonesia on Tuesday, local authorities said.
Bali Law and Human Rights Agency head Jamaruli Manihuruk told reporters in Denpasar, Bali, on Saturday said Mack will reach the United States via stopovers in Jakarta and Seoul.
He went on to say that the agency will propose a lifetime ban for Mack to enter Indonesia, but added that the decision had yet to be made final.
“We will propose a lifetime ban for Mack, but the decision will be made by the immigration office in Jakarta,” said Jamaruli, adding that the proposal was tabled considering the “seriousness” of Mack’s crime.
The 2011 Immigration Law stipulates that a lifetime ban for foreigners’ entry to Indonesia is applicable for those deemed disturbing public order.
After serving more than half of her sentence, 25-year-old Mack was released from Kerobokan Women Penitentiary in Bali on Friday on account of her good behavior. She was immediately taken to immigration detention house in Jimbaran, around 16 kilometers away from the penitentiary, while waiting for her deportation.
Mack was sentenced for 10 years imprisonment in 2015 for killing her own mother, Sheila Von Wiese Mack, in August 2014. She was arrested along with her boyfriend Tommy Schaefer, who was sentenced to 18 years jail time.
