resident Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has once again called for a thorough and transparent investigation into the controversial alleged fatal shooting of an officer while on duty as the personal secretary of the internal affairs chief.
“I have said it before: thoroughly investigate [the case]. Open the case as it is, let nothing be covered up,” Jokowi told reporters on the sidelines of his visit to Rinca Island in East Nusa Tenggara on Thursday.
The President has asked the National Police to maintain public trust.
“It’s important for the people to be certain about the incident,” he said.
The National Police chief has suspended two additional high-ranking police officers following the controversy over the alleged fatal shooting of Brig. Nopryansyah Yosua Hutabarat on July 8.
The suspensions of South Jakarta police chief Sr. Comr. Budhi Herdi Susianto and Internal Security Bureau chief Brig. Gen. Hendra Kurniawan follow the earlier suspension of internal affairs chief Insp. Gen. Ferdy Sambo, whose residence was the site of the alleged fatal shootout.
A special investigation is ongoing into the alleged shootout between the two police officers assigned to Ferdy’s residence that led to the death of Yosua.
