The incident happened in a sixth-grade classroom at the Baiti Jannati Foundation elementary school.
Waluyo, who chairs the educational foundation, said the victim had just entered the classroom with his friends after the morning roll call when the incident occurred.
“The perpetrator came into the classroom and went directly to the victim’s desk. He stabbed [the victim] in the chest with a kitchen knife,” Waluyo said. The perpetrator then immediately left the classroom, exiting the school compound by climbing over an external fence.
According to Waluyo, the teacher and other students in the classroom were too stunned to prevent the attack. The victim was rushed to a hospital, but did not survive his injury.
