The National Police began an ethics hearing against former internal affairs chief Insp. Gen. Ferdy Sambo – the two-star general who has been charged for the premediated murder of his own aide-de-camp Brig. Nofriansyah Yosua Hutabarat – at the police headquarters, in South Jakarta on Thursday morning.
The hearing is presided over by police’s Intelligence and Security Agency chief, Comr. Gen Ahmad Dofiri, a three-star general; General Supervision Inspectorate chief Comr. Gen. Agung Budi Maryoto; internal affairs division chief Insp. Gen. Syahar Diantono; and Police Staff College chief Insp. Gen. Yazid Fanani.
“God willing, the hearing will come to a decision today,” police-spokesperson Insp. Gen. Dedi Prasetyo told reporters as quoted by Tempo.
Ferdy and his wife Putri Candrawathi have been named suspects in the premeditated murder of Yosua. The crime carries a maximum penalty of death or life in prison.
Police have named two other suspects, Brig. Ricky Rizal and Kuat Ma'Ruf, on similar charges.
At the time of the incident, Ricky was on duty as an aide-de-camp and chauffeur to Ferdy's wife, and Kuat as chauffeur and house servant to Ferdy’s family.
