Deputy secretary-general of the PKB Syaiful Huda said the two senior politicians would meet at Prabowo's private home on Jl. Kertanegara, South Jakarta, but that it was part of a planned regular fortnightly meeting.
Chairman of the National Awakening Party (PKB) Muhamin Iskandar is scheduled to meet with Gerindra Party chairman Prabowo Subianto later on Friday as speculation runs rife that the two have reached a deal on the vice presidential (VP) slot for the 2024 race.
Deputy secretary-general of the PKB Syaiful Huda said the two senior politicians would meet at Prabowo's private home on Jl. Kertanegara, South Jakarta but that this was part of a planned regular fortnightly meeting.
"This is a regular meeting that happens to coincide with the Idul Fitri holiday," Syaiful was quoted by Kompas.com as saying.
The meeting between Prabowo and Muhaimin on Friday will have a greater urgency, especially following the decision of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) to nominate Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo.
"Both will certainly update each other on the latest development because their last meeting took place before Ganjar's declaration," he said.
Earlier this week, Prabowo also met with Golkar Party chairman Airlangga Hartarto, raising speculation that he was looking for candidates who would run alongside him as vice president.
Later on Thursday, however, Airlangga denied that the VP slot was being discussed in his meeting with Prabowo.
