The KPK also questioned another suspect, former PT Wika Beton commissioner Dadan Tri Yudianto, for allegedly channeling bribe money to court officials from Heryanto Tanaka, who was allegedly seeking a favorable ruling against Semarang-based savings-and-loans cooperative Intidana’s insolvency.
Heryanto, a member of Intidana, was trying to regain the money he had invested after the cooperative declared bankruptcy for failing to fulfill its obligations to return the savings of its members, which amounted to nearly Rp 1 trillion (US$63.99 million).
Hasbi and Dadan were interrogated for about seven hours on Wednesday after failing to answer summons on May 17.
The antigraft body has decided not to detain Hasbi and Dadan citing their cooperation.
KPK deputy chairman Nurul Ghufron said there was no urgency to detain them. “Detaining [graft suspects] isn’t a must,” he told The Jakarta Post on Wednesday.
He went on to say that the detention would be imposed if the investigators feared that graft suspects might flee, tamper with the investigation or repeat their crime.
