enior Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) member Puan Maharani, who is also the daughter of party chair Megawati Soekarnoputri, met with Coordinating Maritime Affairs and Investment Minister Luhut Panjaitan on Saturday to discuss politics and business.
Puan said she had asked to meet with Luhut to show that the PDI-P was still open to discussing alliances for the 2024 presidential election.
"I’ve continued to communicate with a lot of parties, including Pak Luhut. I asked for the meeting even though today is a holiday, and Pak Luhut accepted it immediately," Puan said, as quoted by Antara.
When asked to give details about the meeting, Puan declined to elaborate.
"I’ll keep it to myself," she said.
Luhut, one of the most powerful ministers in President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo’s cabinet, has served as a conduit between political parties and the Presidential Palace.
He is believed to have been instrumental in cobbling together the alliance of parties supporting Defense Minister and Gerindra Party chairman Prabowo Subianto for president.
