planned meeting between Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) chairwoman Megawati Soekarnoputri and president-elect Prabowo Subianto is expected to determine whether the PDI-P will play a role in the incoming presidential administration of the Gerindra Party chairman.
The PDI-P is the largest party in the House of Representatives and the only party that has yet to reveal whether it will support or oppose the government of Prabowo, who will be inaugurated as president on Oct. 20.
“Megawati is currently visiting Russia and Uzbekistan. After her return to the country, we will allot time for the two leaders to meet and have a discussion,” PDI-P secretary-general Hasto Kristiyanto said on Wednesday.
Gerindra previously said the meeting would likely happen before Prabowo’s inauguration next month, with secretary-general Ahmad Muzani saying that Prabowo's camp was trying to court as many political parties as possible to ensure an effective and stable government.
"We want Prabowo's administration to run effectively. We will approach and bring together as many political parties as possible to create a more conducive and friendly political situation," Muzani said on Tuesday.

This sparked speculation that the PDI-P would join Prabowo's big coalition of political parties, in exchange for ministerial seats in the cabinet.
